Classical Guitar Pickups & Preamps

The best, but not the most convenient, way to amplify the sound of a classical guitar is with a good quality microphone and a high quality acoutistic amplifier or sound system. Recent advances in technology have resulted in external and internal pickups that do almost as good a job as a microphone. In my opinion the best guitar pickups available on the market today are made by Schatten, the HFN-C series of internal pickups, and the Dualie external pickup. The Dualie and one of the HFN-C pickups are "passive," with no built-in preamp, and in some cases will require the use of a preamp to boost the signal to the acoustic amplifier or sound system. The Schatten "active" pickups have a preamp built into the endpin jack assembly. Even when using an "active" pickup, it can sometimes be a good idea to use a high quality external preamp, such as the UltraSound DIPlus and DIMax, in order to maintain localized control over some of the more important aspects of sound enhancement and shaping, expecially in cases where these types of controls are not available on the acoustic amp or sound system.
Free installation is included in the price, in cases where the guitar and pickup are ordered at the same time.
