The "Small Hands" Concert Model 17 is a beautifully hand-crafted all-solid wood instrument, identical in construction and quality with the larger model of the same name. This is a 7/8 sized guitar, just right for an older child or an adult or teenager with small hands. The back and sides are all-solid Indian rosewood, and the top is German spruce. There is a port hole on the side to enhance the listening experience of the player. The volume is not as great as with the full-sized guitar, but still substantial. The nut width is 48mm, compared with a standard size of 52mm. The scale length is 620mm, compared with a standard length of 650mm. Due to the shortness of the scale length, the string tension is much lighter, making it very easy to play and very "forgiving" in cases of slightly misplaced fingers. The lighter tension makes it easier to inadvertently pull the E strings off of the edge of the fretboard. This is not a problem if proper technique is used, and it actually encourages the development of correct placement of the fingers on the E strings, especially when performing legados and pull-offs. Adults with normal sized, larger hands, will find this size guitar easy to play, perhaps easier than a standard sized guitar, especially in the performance of difficult stretches. This guitar has a beautiful, well-balanced tone. A tan-colored hardshell case is included in the price.
